Investing in quality cabinets is a key part of any remodel. Look for an oven cured finish as opposed to an air dried or heat lamp dried finish. A catalytic conversion varnish topcoat used in combination with a sealer will provide a durable finish that is easy to clean and looks great for years to come.
Quality cabinets also use state of the art precision machinery to assure uniformity of construction and cabinet assembly. Hand sanding and hand rubbed staining rather than spraying stain on is another sign of quality cabinetry.
Soft close or “slam proof” doors and drawers are popular right now and available in almost every cabinet line, no matter the price range. Some soft close hardware is better than others. Check that doors close evenly and drawers are securely held by the drawer glides, close all the way and do not sit off-kilter when closed.
